Classical music to color Bodrum nights
The D-Marin Turgutreis International Classical Music Festival, which is marking its second year, will gather musicians from all over the world in Bodrum’s Turgutreis district under the theme “Classical Music for All, Pure Classical Music.â€
Sponsored by the Dogus Group and Garanti Bank, this year’s festival will host four symphony orchestras under the guidance of art director Kemal Küçük.
Scheduled for Aug. 25-28, the festival will feature two concerts in its daily program under the name of “Sunset and Night†concerts and will make Bodrum a center of classical music.
The festival will kick off on Aug. 25 with “Mozart Night†to mark the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth. World-renowned pianist twins Güher and Süher Pekinel will perform on the same evening with the theme “The Power of Love†accompanied by the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra (BSO) under the baton of Gürer Aykal.
Artists such as Anjelika Akbar, Elif Yurdakul, Cihat Askin, Ilya Gringolts, Jiri Barta and Gülsin Onay will also make appearances at the festival.
In addition to the BSO, the Cemal Resit Rey Symphony Orchestra, the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra and the Dogus Children Symphony Orchestra will take part in this year’s festival.
Some artists from the Greek Kos, Kalimnos and Leros islands will be invited to the event and boat tours will be organized for classical music enthusiasts who want to attend the festival from these islands. Tickets will be on sale as of Aug.1 at the D-Marin Turgutreis Marina reported the Dogan News Agency.
